![]() Later he went to work for the County of Fresno as an electrician and was promoted to Maintenance Management Coordinator before he retired in 1978.Īl and Edna spent most of their retirement years in Arroyo Grande, Ca. He and his family returned to live in Fresno in 1948 where he was employed by Italian Swiss Colony and Gallo Wineries. In 1941 he and his bride, Edna (Becker), moved to San Jose where he worked at Hendy Iron Works, a builder of Liberty ships to support the World War II effort, and where he became a Journeyman Electrician. The family lived in the Biola area where Al attended local schools. The youngest son of Fred (Gottfried) and Dorothy (Dorothea) Gauss, Al was born in Fresno, on April 13, 1918. After several months of failing health, Alexander Al Gauss passed away peacefully in Fresno on Thursday, February 14, 2008.
